Personal emergency kit
SCAD students are encouraged to check their personal emergency kit ahead of any tropical storm or severe winter weather and obtain any items they may need. With an approaching storm, stores may run out of some popular items like bottled water and batteries, so it is recommended to shop early if you need supplies.
Your personal emergency kit should contain items that might be helpful if your residence experiences an extended power outage.
Essential items:
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Bottled water
- Snacks that do not require refrigeration
Additional items to consider:
- Phone-charging power pack
- Books, playing cards, or other non-digital entertainment
- Basic first aid kit
- Moist towelettes
- Manual can opener for food
- Small cooler and freezer pack if you have medication that requires refrigeration
- Pet food and any necessities for pets or approved assistance animals
- Battery-operated fan and extra batteries (for tropical weather)
- Blankets and warm clothes (for winter weather)
