The SCAD Department of University Safety offers free residential security checks for students, faculty and staff who live off campus in Atlanta and Savannah.
Two crime prevention specialists will conduct a security check of your residence. In Atlanta, the specialist may be accompanied by an Allied Universal security officer. The SCAD Department of University Safety will complete the following:
- Research crime trends of the residence's surrounding areas
- Check the potential security weaknesses of the interior and exterior
- Recommend security devices or updates to reduce exposure to criminal activity
- Review their findings with you
You will receive an emailed copy of the security check form and notes, and the Department of University Safety will maintain the information on file.
The individual requesting the security check must be present at the residence during the check and should advise any roommates that the security check will be conducted. Request a HomeCheck via the LiveSafe app or by emailing [email protected].
HomeChecks are available to SCAD Atlanta students, faculty and staff who reside in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. SCAD Savannah students, faculty and staff who reside in Savannah and the surrounding areas of Garden City, Pooler, Richmond Hill, Georgetown and the Islands also may also request security checks. Residences in South Carolina are excluded.
