Fashion students are encouraged to develop creative and intellectual thinking, inventive design skills, and practical expertise necessary to succeed in careers in the global fashion industry.
Industry-standard Equipment Sewing studios are equipped with industry-standard dress forms, cutting tables, professional sewing machines and specialty finishing equipment. Fashion department computer labs offer a Mimaki fabric printer, software including Gerber Suite, U4ia, Virtual Fashion, and online or print subscription services including WGSN, here & there and Peclers.
Professional Partnerships and Associations Students work with industry partners and professionals who serve as mentors and critics. Recent visitors include the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Onward Kashiyama, Gen Art New York, Young Menswear Association, Cotton Inc., Abercrombie and Fitch, Liz Claiborne, Saks Fifth Avenue, Trend Union and Target, as well as designers Eric Gaskins, Michael Fink, David Rodriguez and Trina Turk, milliner Parrish Lee, Franck Boclet for Francesco Smalto, and Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian.
