SCAD recognizes the importance of building relationships with teachers and counselors. Not only does SCAD offer resources to assist educators in helping their students succeed, but also provides opportunities — including scholarships, distance learning and summer programs — for educators to further their own education.
SCAD offers Rising Star programs for students interested in exploring art in an academic setting. Pre-college: Rising Star is a five-week residential program for students who have completed their junior year of high school and wish to earn university credit. Participants enjoy full access to SCAD facilities, including classrooms, computer labs, studios, production suites, libraries, galleries, theaters, bookstores and fitness centers.
Summer programs for educators allow participants to explore their personal style in writing, photography or printmaking and develop their skills within their chosen medium to develop ideas for lesson plans and teaching strategies. Participants are given access to SCAD facilities, including housing, classrooms, computer labs, studios, production suites, libraries, galleries, theaters, bookstores and fitness centers.
SCAD supports the dedication and contributions of educators by providing opportunities for professional development and growth in SCAD's inspiring community of artists, designers and accomplished faculty members.
