International Center of Photography’s Brian Wallis to moderate Jack Leigh panel discussion
The SCAD Museum of Art invites you to attend a panel discussion in conjunction with the exhibition, "Jack Leigh: Full Circle, Low Country Photographs, 1972-2004," featuring the acclaimed photographers George Tice and Lisa M. Robinson (M.F.A. photography, 1999) and moderated by Brian Wallis, deputy director and chief curator at the International Center of Photography, New York.
In a career spanning six decades, Tice is noted for crafting carefully toned black-and-white images documenting the landscapes of the Northeastern U.S., including his native state, New Jersey. Robinson’s meditative landscapes and seascapes investigate ideas of transition and the passage of time.
Tice and Robinson each had long-standing relationships with Leigh that underscore the "Full Circle" structure of influence within the exhibition. Tice served as one of Leigh’s early career mentors while, in turn, Leigh was Robinson’s first photography instructor. Wallis will lead a discussion that explores the subjects of landscape and documentary photography along with both artists’ relationships to Leigh.
The panel discussion is immediately followed by a gallery hop that includes a variety of exhibition receptions in SCAD galleries and a SCAD Art Sale at Poetter Hall. Free shuttles will run between the museum and other galleries.
The panel discussion, gallery hop and receptions are free and open to the public.
SCAD Museum of Art galleries are open 5-8 p.m. Thursdays.
Make the museum your destination for art and culture. On Thursday, Sept. 25, wine, beer, coffee and snacks will be available for purchase in TAD café (10 percent discount for museum members).
