Guests and Gusto speaker Sidney Clifton

Support inclusive storytelling with Emmy-nominated producer Sidney Clifton on 'Guests and Gusto'

Guided by a passion for supporting underrepresented writers, artists, storytellers, and creators, Emmy-nominated producer Sidney Clifton has overseen beloved animated, mixed-media, and live-action content for more than 20 years. Join Clifton as she shares insight from her work with the Jim Henson Company and Black Women Animate Studios, and the catalyst for her founding the Clifton House, a writer’s and artist’s workshop and retreat space centered at her childhood home in Baltimore, Md.

Continuing the legacy of her parents, educator and activist Fred J. Clifton and award-winning poet and author Lucille Clifton, Clifton House provides mentorship, resources, and development in the creative arts to people of all ages, with a particular focus on African diasporic, women and gender nonconforming, and LGBTQIA+ poets, writers, artists, and creative activists.

Clifton’s producing credits include the Harriet the Spy animated series, BET’s animated series Marvel’s Black Panther, Celebration Table with Maya Angelou, Stan Lee Presents: The Condor, Hellboy: Sword of Storms, Rob Zombie’s The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Tough Love, Me, Eloise!, and Jeff Dunham’s Achmed Saves America.
