Guests and Gusto feature on Thomas Edison Film Festival

Experience your lightbulb moment at the Thomas Edison Film Festival on 'Guests and Gusto'

Experience the latest in cutting-edge content at a virtual screening of the Thomas Edison Film Festival. Then, join festival director Jane Steuerwald and SCAD film and television professor Michael Chaney for an illuminating conversation about the curated films and the importance of experimental work.

An international juried competition, the Thomas Edison Film Festival advances and exhibits works by diverse filmmakers from around the world that expand the possibilities of narrative, experimental, animation, and documentary film.

This year’s selections include two works created at SCAD, the documentary film Listen to Us by Juliana Henao (M.F.A., sound design, 2020) and the animated film Beneath by Ian Martinez (B.F.A., animation, 2020).

The winner of the Director’s Choice Award, Listen to Us highlights the many contributions of women in sound within the American film industry, addressing women’s underrepresentation and exploring what the future holds.

Recipient of an Honorable Mention Award, Beneath tells the story of a caretaker spirit living at the bottom of the world who makes an unsettling discovery about what lies above.

A link to the screening will be emailed to all registrants prior to the discussion. Register by May 14 to ensure proper time to review the films.
