Represent Blackness with artist Ervin A. Johnson, gallerist Arnika Dawkins on 'Guests and Gusto'
Artist Ervin A. Johnson (M.F.A., photography, 2015) and gallerist Arnika Dawkins (M.A., digital photography, 2008) discuss Johnson’s poignant series #InHonor (2016–present), which was created in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and pays homage to the lives lost to racism and police brutality. Johnson’s work opens a critical dialogue on how the perception of Blackness is often seen as monolithic. Johnson and Dawkins will also discuss their enduring professional relationship and Johnson’s exhibition Variations On a Theme, currently on view at Arnika Dawkins Gallery in Atlanta.
