Caomin Xie exhibition: 'The Maps of Infinitude'

Known for his complex, monumental and kaleidoscopic mandala paintings, SCAD alumnus Caomin Xie (M.F.A., painting, 2001) ponders the magnitude and ethereal beauty of the celestial realm. The new paintings on view in "The Maps of Infinitude" are musings based on images sourced by Xie of the planet Mars, lunar surfaces and geological formations. Through digital manipulation and sketches, the artist transforms these images into works that exude a minimal elegance and are deeply meditative.

This exhibition is curated by Alexandra Sachs, SCAD curator of exhibitions.
