Art Talk

Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016

Miami, FL

National YoungArts Foundation, Jewel Box, second floor

2100 Biscayne Blvd.

The Rolls-Royce Art Programme, in partnership with SCAD, presents university President and Founder Paula Wallace in conversation with acclaimed artist and SCAD painting alumnus José Parlá.

Wallace and Parlá will explore themes related to Parlá’s latest exhibition, "Roots," a site-specific installation on view during Art Basel in Miami.

"Roots" brings Parlá to his hometown of Miami, where he spent his formative years immersed in the city’s thriving underground art scene. The exhibition, which includes new paintings and sculptures, creates a poetic dialogue with the surrounding space and invites viewers to consider the connections between the past, present and future.

"Roots" is curated by Laurie Ann Farrell. The exhibition is on view Tuesday, Nov. 29, through Thursday, Dec. 15, at the National YoungArts Foundation.

This event is held in conjunction with the National YoungArts Foundation and SCAD AT MIAMI, a celebration of contemporary art, creative education and the global art community.
