Celebrate SCAD FASH with free admission
Join us for the opening of SCAD FASH, a museum that focuses on the future of fashion design, connecting conceptual to historical principles of dress — whether ceremonial, celebratory or casual. Visitors of all ages are invited to engage with captivating films, educationally enriching events, dynamic exhibitions and the university’s permanent collection, which includes looks by Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Givenchy.
The inaugural exhibition will allow visitors to step inside the archive of one of the world’s most renowned and beloved designers at the SCAD FASH presentation of “Oscar de la Renta.” The exhibition features gowns on loan from former first lady Laura Bush, dresses worn by Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey and select garments by Oscar de la Renta’s new creative director Peter Copping. “Ovation for Oscar,” a SCAD-commissioned short documentary that premiered earlier in 2015 at the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, will also be on view.
To celebrate the opening of SCAD FASH, museum admission is free on Saturday, Oct. 3.
