SCADpro students unveil new Atlanta police vehicles

Atlanta Police Department: New cruiser design

In an effort to modernize their fleet of police cruisers and recruit new officers living within city limits, the Atlanta Police Department teamed with SCADpro to redesign the exterior decals of newly purchased police vehicles. In a 48-hour design sprint, SCAD students created a new design that was rolled out on Atlanta police cruisers in the fall of 2022.

"I never thought that a car could be such a boost. I think it’s great, and it's something that keeps Atlanta competitive. It's a fantastic step in the right direction."

Project outcome

SCAD students created multiple concepts that were voted on by officers in the Atlanta Police Department. The finalized design, which features red and blue horizontal lines and the police seal over black exterior paint, was launched on 40 newly purchased Ford Explorer police vehicles in the fall of 2022 as part of a program to assign officers living in Atlanta's city limits with take-home police vehicles to improve morale and offer a more visible presence in their neighborhoods.
