Amplify ancestral stories with SCAD alum and First Nation artist Eska Palmer
Journey into the myths, ceremonies, and rituals of the Mi’kmaq people with SCAD alum Eska Palmer (M.F.A., photography, 2020; B.F.A., photography, 2011), as she shares her own story as a First Nation woman in her latest exhibition, To Sit With Me: A Recognition of Being.
Eska Palmer (b. 1986, New Brunswick, Canada) has spent more than 20 years capturing photographic art centered on education, accessibility, identity, and Native womanhood. Her work has been featured in hundreds of online publications, local and national galleries, and in museums like the Ringling Museum of Art and Design, Sarasota, Fla., and Art Basel’s Frost Museum in Miami. Palmer also works as a special education teacher and an adjunct photography professor.
This in-person and virtual artist talk is hosted by the office for career and alumni success, and is free and open to SCAD card holders and the public.
