SCAD Atlanta Welcome Center

Atlanta, GA

1600 Peachtree St. NW

Explore SCAD Atlanta’s award-winning fashion programs and learn how the university’s rigorous curriculum prepares students for successful creative careers. You will also have a chance to tour SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film, the university’s museum that celebrates fashion as a universal language, garments as important conduits of identity, and film as an immersive and memorable medium. Currently on view are “Pierre Cardin: Pursuit of the Future” and “Dressing for Dystopia: ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Costumes by Ane Crabtree” exhibitions.

Best known for his 1960s space-age style, Pierre Cardin has pushed the boundaries of fashion by exploring new materials and silhouettes. The exhibition presents iconic looks for both women and men from the 1950s to present, borrowed mainly from the Pierre Cardin Museum in Paris, and includes several dresses from the SCAD Permanent Collection.

The debut museum exhibition of Ane Crabtree’s work reveals the masterful storytelling inherent in her creations, for which she was recently honored by the Costume Designers Guild. From text to textile, Crabtree elevates the garments to a momentous role as vital to the acclaimed series as the actors’ performances.

This event is free and open to prospective students.
