SCAD SafeRide enhanced by Uber

The SCAD SafeRide program, supported by the SCAD Department of University Safety and available to SCAD Atlanta and SCAD Savannah students, ensures students have a way to get home safely from open SCAD buildings to off-campus residences within three miles of campus. This service operates 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. SCAD is also the first university to use the Uber Central dispatch platform to supplement the university's SafeRide program.

How it works

During times of peak demand, SCAD will use Uber drivers to augment SafeRides for trips that meet the program's requirements.

Students should have the Uber app on their smartphones to make use of this partnership. When a SafeRide is requested, the dispatcher from the SCAD Department of University Safety will activate an Uber ride. The student will receive a text with a link to view his or her ride details, which will include the following:

  • The driver's name
  • The make and model of the vehicle (i.e., Hyundai Sonata)
  • The vehicle's license plate number
  • The estimated time of arrival
