Living in university housing
Housing application fee and housing rates
A nonrefundable and nontransferable housing application fee for both new and continuing students is deducted from the overall housing charges. Continuing students who cancel after June 1 are subject to an additional US$1,000 nonrefundable cancellation fee. Students who cancel less than 30 days prior to the quarter in which they are scheduled to move into the residence hall are subject to a nonrefundable US$1,500 cancellation fee.
Housing application and room assignment
Continuing students are assigned a date and time to select their housing based on the date their housing application was submitted.
Important housing dates
Be aware these dates are subject to change based on updates to the academic calendar. Refer to the calendar for additional dates related to classes and payment deadlines.
Special housing requests
Due to the high demand for housing, private rooms are limited in number and prioritized for students with medical accommodations. Students with medical needs who may require a private room or other specific housing assignments should work directly with the office of disability resources to initiate the accommodations process and submit the required documentation to secure eligibility for housing accommodations.
Move-in crew
Crews of student volunteers welcome and help new incoming students move into the halls. These students are able to move in prior to the halls opening and are required to attend an orientation meeting before residence halls open.
MicroFridge rental program
Students can rent a MicroFridge® with a Safe Plug® unit from Collegiate Concepts, Inc. MicroFridge units are combination appliances that function as both refrigerators and microwaves to reduce energy consumption.
For additional information about microwave ovens and mini refrigerators, please reference the appliances section of the university’s housing policies and the housing license agreement.
Mail services
Each residential student is assigned a personal mailbox number (PMB) to receive mail and packages. As part of the university's continual effort to provide the best student experience, SCAD also uses the Amazon Locker program as part of its mail services for current Atlanta and Savannah students.
Wireless internet access
Access to the internet and email are provided to SCAD students through the information technology department, which provides computer support to SCAD.
Graduate housing
Limited housing is reserved for graduate students on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact SCADhome at 912.525.7000 or email [email protected].
Laundry facilities
Multiple washing machines and dryers are provided in all residence halls. The machines accept credit or debit cards as well as payment through the CSCPay Mobile app, which can be downloaded for free wherever you get your apps.
Safety and security
Information regarding university safety, including communications, emergency preparedness, and an annual university security report, is available.
