What to expect from an initial consultation
SCAD counselors strive to create a comfortable environment for you as soon as you arrive. At your first appointment, a counselor will develop a plan to address your needs. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out intake paperwork and bring your SCAD Card.
Individual counseling
There are many reasons to meet with a SCAD counselor. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, stress management, or anything else, meet one-on-one with a counselor to confidentially discuss your concerns and find solutions.
Group counseling and workshops
Group sessions provide an opportunity to connect with peers who may be facing similar challenges and are interested in addressing those challenges together in a welcoming, collaborative, and safe environment. Groups meet weekly throughout the quarter and are facilitated by a staff member or a graduate clinical intern. To see a complete schedule, visit the MySCAD department pages.
Find a therapist on LiveHealth Online
All SCAD students are enrolled in the LiveHealth Online app. In addition to finding physicians, you can access appointment-based mental health counseling. Choose a therapist, pick a time that is convenient for you (seven days a week), and then talk to the therapist from the privacy of home or anywhere you feel comfortable. Download the LiveHealth Online app, available for free wherever you get your apps.

Office of disability resources
All reasonable accommodations are determined for students on an individual basis. In order to receive academic adjustments and/or reasonable accommodations, students must make an appointment with an accommodation specialist each term to make their specific accommodation requests known. All current students have access to their account through SCAD Accommodate in MySCAD. Students are encouraged to provide documentation of their disability.

The office of accommodation services has adopted the ADA definition of disability: "Disability defined is a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such individual" (ADA, 1990).
Deaf and hard-of-hearing services
The coordinator of deaf services assists deaf and hard-of-hearing students in effectively communicating with other students, faculty and staff. The interpreting staff provides communication services for students, faculty and staff for classes and co-curricular activities.
Bee Ready 2 Buzz
In the virtual Bee Ready 2 Buzz program, students practice essential skills like managing time, understanding accommodations at SCAD, coping with stress, and self-advocacy. You’ll also learn tips for living in SCAD housing.
Jump Start program
Jump Start orientation complements the primary SCAD online orientation. This on-ground program helps students with accommodations focus on building connections with other students and getting to know the disability resources team. Its primary goal is for students to feel more confident beginning their first quarter at SCAD, allowing them to get a feel for campus life, and get settled in prior to the start of the school year.
