Delight in the complexity of earth and artistry
Dec. 1-6, 2026
SCAD celebrates its eighth year as the official university partner of DESIGN MIAMI with an intriguing exposition of intricate sophistication. Alumni from a range of the university's design programs elevate delicate details of the natural world into refined expressions of materiality and form. An innovative set of pendant lamps by CoCo Ree Lemery (M.F.A., furniture design, 2019) transforms culinary refuse into sculptural light through a biodegradable polymer derived from onion skins, creating a uniquely organic translucency. Hannah Adair (B.F.A., printmaking, 2019) translates her signature hand-cut prints into paneled wall treatments of abstract botanical patterns that encircle the booth. Daisy Cao's (B.F.A., industrial design, 2026; B.F.A., fashion marketing and management, 2023) meticulously handcrafted pair of cast-bronze chairs and an accompanying side table are accented with gold-leaf floral branches and crystal resin ribbons, reflecting her exploration of how divergence can emerge from a shared source. Each work transforms elemental matter into functional objects of unexpected elegance, cultivating an environment where artisanship and experimentation flourish.
