Direct culture through design media at conversation with PIN-UP Magazine's Felix Burrichter

As the founder, editorial director, and creative director of PIN-UP, Felix Burrichter has steered the magazine since its inception with innovation and impact. Dedicated to “pure architectural entertainment,” PIN-UP publishes stories, interviews, and design spotlights centering cultural exchange. Richly sensory, each issue expands from the physical to the intangible, continually seeking to challenge the status quo, redefine the boundaries of what’s possible through design, and stake out alternative paths for the future.

On the occasion of PIN-UP’s 20th anniversary, Burrichter joins SCAD chair of interior design and preservation design Christine Van Duyn for a look back at the magazine’s historic highlights, top collaborations, and most resonant discourse, as well Burrichter’s own origins as a trained architect turned media icon. Gain insight from Burrichter’s trajectory at the intersection of creative industries — and where he’s leading PIN-UP next.

This event is free and open to all SCAD Card holders. Registration is required.

About the speaker
Felix Burrichter is a New York–based editor, creative director, curator, and trained architect. He is the founder and editorial and creative director of PIN–UP, the magazine he established in 2006 as a platform at the intersection of architecture, design, fashion, and visual culture, and which he has since developed across print, digital, video, books, exhibitions, and public programming. Burrichter studied architecture in Paris and New York, including at the École Spéciale d’Architecture and the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. His broader practice spans publishing, curatorial work, and institutional collaboration, with projects presented through organizations including the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, The Museum of Modern Art, Swiss Institute, and other leading galleries and cultural partners. In addition to his work at PIN–UP, he has edited and contributed to publications for Rizzoli, Phaidon, and Karma. Across these formats, Burrichter has built an editorial practice that situates architecture and design within larger conversations about image, identity, and contemporary culture.
