Cultivate community at SCAD Savannah Family and Alumni Weekend 2026
SCAD Savannah
Each spring, SCAD Family and Alumni Weekend offers three fun-filled days of events and opportunities for families of current students to visit Savannah as well as for alumni to reconnect with former classmates at SCAD.
The highlight of the weekend is the 45th annual Sidewalk Arts Festival, a signature event that invites students and alumni to create temporary chalk art masterpieces on the sidewalks of scenic Forsyth Park.

Friday, April 24
Noon to 3 p.m.
Early check-in for families (optional)
Gutstein Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.
In town early? Check in ahead of the rush to pick up your schedule. You’ll also receive your event button, which provides access to many of the weekend’s events.
Noon to 5 p.m.
Tours of SCADstory (optional)
342 Bull St.
Take a tour of SCADstory, an immersive 360-degree experience through 45 years of SCAD history. Tour groups are limited in size; advance registration is required.
1–5 p.m.
Tours of SCAD Film Studios backlot (optional)
Join faculty from the School of Entertainment Arts on a tour of the university’s Hollywood-style backlot. Tours last approximately 30 minutes. Tour groups are limited in size and advance tour registration is required. Transportation will be provided to SCAD Film Studios.
1–5 p.m.
Open house at SCAD Back40
3650 Speedway Blvd., Hardeeville, SC
Stop by the university’s sustainable urban farm and apiary to learn about the many ways it contributes to our community. Transportation is not provided to SCAD Back40, but parking is available on-site.
2–5 p.m.
Visit the SCAD Museum of Art (optional)
601 Turner Blvd.
Stop by SCAD MOA to experience the premier exhibitions on display. Admission for registered families is free throughout the weekend.
3–4:30 p.m.
Foundation studies honors show and awards reception (optional)
Wallin Hall, 312 E. 37th St.
Visit this juried exhibition and celebrate with the winners. Featuring student work from foundation studies classes, entries showcase sketches, drawings, sculptures, and more. Transportation is not provided to Wallin Hall, but parking is available on-site.
5–7 p.m.
Event check-in for families

7–10 p.m.
'Zootopia 2' screening and alumni remarks
Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St.
Enjoy a screening of Zootopia 2, preceded by remarks and behind-the-scenes insights from a SCAD alum who contributed to the film. All students, alumni, and their registered family members are invited to attend.

Watch as chalk masterpieces emerge from the sidewalks of Forsyth Park while enjoying local food and live music. Winners of the competition will be announced at the end of the afternoon. Stop by the Family Tent between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to take a short break from the sun and say hello!

Lunch on your own
A number of local restaurants will have meals available for purchase in the park. Note that the student meal plan is not valid with Sidewalk Arts Festival vendors.

After a busy day in the park, relax and consider visiting alumni-owned retailers, restaurants, galleries, and more! A map of businesses owned by local SCAD alums is available online for families who would like to support the SCAD community.

Alumni exclusive SCAD tour
Go behind the scenes to see the university’s latest expansions, including the new backlot at SCAD Film Studios. Advance registration is required. Tour departs from Poetter Hall.
5–7 p.m.
Alumni welcome reception at SCAD Museum of Art
Kick off the weekend in style at this welcome reception just for SCAD alumni. Get a sneak peek at Après SCAD, the creative retreat designed for alumni, and enjoy light bites and drinks as you reconnect with friends old and new. Adults only. RSVP required.
Saturday, April 25

SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival
Create your own chalk-art masterpiece or stroll the walkways to see what students are creating. You’ll find alumni activities throughout the day at the SCAD alumni tent. Register in advance to compete and receive your alumni gift. Check-in opens at 10 a.m.
9–11 a.m.
Morning mingle with Origin Coffee
Meet and mingle at the SCAD alumni tent while enjoying coffee from local, alumni-owned Origin Coffee Bar.
2–4 p.m.
Cooler conversations
Beat the heat with cookies and cold beverages in the shade of the alumni lounge.
