SCAD presents Photo London Digital exhibition with artists Le’Andra LeSeur and Ervin A. Johnson
SCAD presents a virtual exhibition of work by Ervin A. Johnson (M.F.A., photography, 2015) and Le’Andra LeSeur (B.F.A., photography, 2014) at this year’s Photo London Digital, the UK’s premier photo fair. The artists’ work interrogates themes like identity, community, and gender, and reflects on many facets of personal and collective Black experience. Both LeSeur and Johnson approach photography through varied methods and media.
Le’Andra LeSeur’s multifaceted work celebrates Blackness, contemplates the experience of invisibility, and seeks to dismantle and reclaim stereotypes surrounding Black female identity. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at venues including A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn; Assembly Room, New York; Microscope Gallery, Brooklyn; Anacostia Art Center, Washington, D.C.; SITE:LAB, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Arnika Dawkins Gallery, Atlanta.
Ervin A. Johnson’s photo-based mixed-media work reimagines cultural and racial identities. In his most recent series, #InHonor, he pays homage to the lives lost to police brutality and racism. Johnson has exhibited at Arnika Dawkins Gallery in Atlanta, Detroit’s Wright Museum, the AIPAD Photography Show, and the European Cultural Center at the 2019 Venice Biennale.
This exhibition is presented by SCAD Art Sales.
