1600 Peachtree St. NW

Leap through time with the work of Ye Xu (M.F.A. photography) during a reception for her thesis exhibition "暮去朝来 Mu Qu Zhao Lai: When the Dusk Passes, the Morning Comes Again," on view July 3–19, 2019.

Xu presents portrait photography that examines the cultural implications of women’s style in Chinese society. The exhibition is comprised of side-by-side portraits of young women, one in traditional fashions of a particular dynasty and the other in contemporary dress. Through these comparisons, Xu explores specific applications of makeup, hairstyle and dress, and how they relate to changes in the social status and expectations placed on Chinese women throughout history.

The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
