Make a difference with the MTV Look Different Creator Competition
This summer, MTV is airing “White People,” a special featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and filmmaker Jose Antonio Vargas as he speaks to young people around the country about what it means to be white in America today. The film aims to stoke a national conversation on race and white privilege.
In support of the film, MTV and Look Different, a campaign dedicated to fighting social injustice, are looking for emerging filmmakers to create groundbreaking short videos to bring a fresh outlook to the subject of privilege. The shorts would shine a light on racial, gender, sexual orientation and other social biases to help create awareness and propel action.
A panel of judges including Vargas, Kal Penn, Franchesca Ramsey, Laci Green and more will choose three proposals to produce and air on MTV’s vast digital and cross-platform channels, including a spot on mtvU, MTV’s college network.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S. Finalists will be asked to submit an example of prior work.
