Soojung Kim exhibition: "Time is Space"

The SCAD exhibitions department presents "Time is Space," a thesis exhibition by M.F.A. painting student Soojung Kim featuring recent drawings and sculptural installations. Kim was a Spring 2012 recipient of SCAD's prestigious New York City Workplace Opportunity, a unique program for outstanding students to work amidst New York City's vibrant arts scene. Many of the works in this exhibition were created while participating in the residency.

"Time is Space" contemplates how the measurement of time via calendar and clock is a manufactured system that imposes a rhythmic structure on the natural flow of time. The artist's work embodies the paradox of this relationship and encourages viewers' active participation in its meaning. Kim's work is inspired by the perception of time and space, especially how these allow for contemplation and freedom.

Reception: Aug. 17, 2012, 6-8 p.m.

Gallery hours: Tuesday through Friday, 1-6 p.m.,

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
