Quick start technology guide

Passwords

At SCAD, one password accesses multiple SCAD portals. Each SCAD student, faculty member, and staff member is issued a SCAD password and username. Your default SCAD password is sent to you via email.

Your SCAD password provides entry to the following:

MySCAD portal

Log in to the MySCAD portal

  1. Go to my.scad.edu.
  2. Type in your username.
  3. Type in your SCAD password.
  4. Click Enter to gain access.

Reset your SCAD password

There are two ways to reset your SCAD password.

Option 1: Change it while you are logged in to MySCAD

  1. Log in to my.scad.edu.
  2. Click on the My Info tab.
  3. Under My Personal Info channel, click Change SCAD Password link.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Option 2: Change it when you are not able to log in to MySCAD

  1. Go to my.scad.edu.
  2. Beneath the login box, click Forgot password?
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to obtain a token to reset your password.

Contact the Technology Support Center at techsupport.scad.edu for live chat or call 912.525.4567, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, to request a password reset if the above does not work. You will be asked to answer some security-related questions specific to your identity.

University computers

Find technology resources

Students accessing on-ground resources may use the Technology Resources tool within the SCAD app to locate available computers, printers, scanners, specialty equipment, and more.

Log in to university computers

  1. Locate a SCAD Mac computer or PC.
  2. Type in your username.
  3. Type in your SCAD password.
  4. Press Enter and you will be logged in.

Trouble logging in: Change your SCAD password from a SCAD computer on campus without knowing your current SCAD password.

  1. Locate a SCAD networked lab computer.
  2. Type in "Student" for the username.
  3. Type in "Student" for the password.
  4. PC: Select the "Student/Faculty/Staff Change Password" button and follow the prompts to receive a password reset token.
    Mac: Visit MySCAD and select the "Forgot password?" link below the login button. Enter your 9-digit SCAD ID and follow prompts to receive a password reset token.
  5. Click the Log off button and log back in with your username and new password.

SCAD MyDrive

This service provides web-based access to your available university network resources.

Resources available via MyDrive while off campus:

  • Student Home Drives
  • Student Websites
  • Student Dropboxes
  • Film, Digital Media, and Performing Arts RenderFarm

Access SCAD MyDrive while off campus
There are two ways to access MyDrive.

Option 1: Via any internet browser

  1. Go to mydrive.scad.edu.
  2. Type in your username.
  3. Type in your SCAD password and click OK.

Option 2: Via MySCAD

  1. Log in to MySCAD.
  2. Select the Resources page.
  3. Under the Remote access channel, click the MyDrive link.
  4. Type in your username.
  5. Type in your SCAD password and click OK.

SCAD printing

Printing at SCAD is available from any university lab computer. You can easily manage your account, check your available paper balance, and track transaction history anytime by visiting myprint.scad.edu while logged into a lab computer. Log in with your SCAD username and current password from any campus lab station.

Print balances and account care
To help support sustainability and encourage responsible resource use, SCAD uses a digitally monitored print balance system across all classrooms and labs.

  • Quarterly allowance: At the start of each quarter, your account is refreshed with a virtual balance equal to 500 black-and-white prints regardless of what was used the previous quarter.
  • Color printing: You're welcome to use your balance for both black-and-white and color documents. Keep in mind color prints deduct from your balance at a higher rate.
  • Adding funds: If you run out of credits during the quarter you may add more using a credit card through myprint.scad.edu.

SCADnow courses

SCADnow courses can be accessed via MySCAD.

  1. Log in to MySCAD.
  2. Select the Student Workspace tab.
  3. Under the My Courses channel, select the course name.

SCAD email

The SCAD email system provides the university community with a secure and reliable way to communicate via email. Any communication among SCAD students, faculty, and staff should be done with the SCAD email system only.

Option 1: Access email via MySCAD

  1. Go to my.scad.edu.
  2. Type in your username.
  3. Type in your SCAD password.
  4. Click Enter to log in.
  5. On the Home page, select the Email button in the top right corner.

Option 2: Log in via Microsoft

  1. Go to outlook.scad.edu.
  2. Click the Sign In button in the top right corner.
  3. Type in your full SCAD email address as the username and click next.
  4. If redirected to MySCAD, log in with your username and current password.

SCAD web space

SCAD provides web space to any interested member of the SCAD community. The address for your website is studentpages.scad.edu/~your username.

For example, if your network username were scadbee20, your website address would be studentpages.scad.edu/~scadbee20.

Activate your web storage space
Follow the instructions below to activate your account.

  1. Log in to MySCAD.
  2. Select the My Info tab.
  3. Under the Student Web Space channel, click the Web Space Activation link.
  4. Read the Activate Student Web Space usage agreement.
  5. Click Create Web Space.

The web space will be activated in one hour or less, and the web space password will be the same as your SCAD password.

Access your web storage space

  1. Go to studentpages.scad.edu.
  2. Click Login in the upper right corner.
  3. Type in your network username.
  4. Type in your SCAD password.

Upload a website to your web space storage

  1. Go to studentpages.scad.edu.
  2. Click Login in the upper right corner.
  3. Type in your username.
  4. Type in your SCAD password.
  5. Select your campus location and then select the Webspaces folder.
  6. Finally, select the Studentpages folder and open the web_pages folder.
  7. Select the instructions.html file and click Delete to remove the file. This is a temporary file that is not needed.
  8. Click the Upload button in the upper right corner.
  9. Click the Select Files on Your Computer link. Here you will be able to select your website files and click Open to upload those files. Please make sure your home page is named index.htm or index.html.
  10. Repeat for all other pages to be uploaded. Upload all folders that are needed for the website into the web_pages folder. Once completed, preview your site at studentpages.scad.edu/~your username.

Username

The network username is a combination of your first name and last name with a number. The network username is also the beginning portion of your official SCAD email address before the @ symbol. An example of username/email address structure is below.

Example:
Network username: scadbee20
SCAD email address: [email protected]

The SCAD Technology Support Center is the first-level response team for all tech-related requests.
