film still for Shrek

Guard your gumdrop buttons at 'Shrek' Lucas Theatre screening

Shrek (Mike Myers), a misunderstood ogre who only wants to be left alone, reluctantly agrees to rescue a princess in hopes of reclaiming his swamp from an invasion of talking pigs, wayward wooden boys, and near-sighted rodents banished there by a lord with a very small castle. But Shrek gets more than he bargained for when a wisecracking donkey (Eddie Murphy) tags along and the princess (Cameron Diaz) proves determined to micromanage her own rescue. Add a curse, a dragon, and a band of merry men, and you have a fantastically fractured fairy tale overflowing with wit and heart. Celebrating 25 years, Shrek — the first winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature — made Scottish accents cool and kept Smash Mouth eternally relevant with its irresistibly funny and charmingly irreverent spirit.

Tickets for the screening are $5 for SCAD Card holders, students, seniors, and military, and $8 for the general public. Children under 12 receive free admission.
