BAM! Black Artists in Music, SCAD’s acclaimed concert series celebrating Black History Month and Black musical artists, is back once again! This magnetic concert will feature Grammy Award-nominated actor Avery Wilson (The Wiz) and Tony Award-nominated actor Amber Iman (Lempicka) as well as other special guests directly from Broadway, film, and TV. The SCAD Bee Sharps, the university’s premier vocal ensemble, will join the celebrity lineup for a night of exhilarating performances featuring iconic hit songs from culture-defining Black artists in gospel, jazz, R&B, soul, spiritual and blues, as well as spoken word and dance. An uplifting, inspiring, and joyous concert experience, BAM! spotlights the rich traditions and innovations of Black music and its influence on the world.

Broadway Special Guests

Amber Iman

Amber Iman is a prolific performer, filmmaker, activist, and one of the most sought-after theatre artists and vocalists working today. In 2024, she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her role in the Broadway production of Lempicka. Iman also won an AUDELCO Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her starring role as Nadira in Goddess at The Public Theater. Iman debuted on Broadway as Nina Simone in Soul Doctor, earning a Clive Barnes Award nomination. She has since appeared in George C. Wolfe’s Shuffle Along, the first national tour of Hamilton, and Hippest Trip: The Soul Train Musical. Her film and TV work includes HBO’s High Maintenance and her award-winning short film Steve. Iman is also the co-founder of Black Women on Broadway and the Broadway Advocacy Coalition, the latter of which received a Special Tony Award in 2021.

Avery Wilson

Avery Wilson is a Grammy Award-nominated singer and actor recognized for his work on the Broadway cast recording of The Wiz, which earned a nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. Wilson joined the cast as the Scarecrow for The Wiz’s U.S. tour in 2023 and its Broadway revival in 2024. Wilson’s TV credits include Grown-ish and Master of None. After participating in BAM! in 2025, Wilson is thrilled to return to the SCAD stage for the second time in 2026. A solo recording artist, his single “Kiss the Sky” reached the Top 20 on the Billboard R&B chart and his recently released single “Good Enough” is available on all streaming platforms. He has also collaborated with Clive Davis, Quincy Jones, Babyface, Usher, and Christina Aguilera.
