Celebrate your SCADfam at Family and Alumni Weekend in Savannah

Enjoy creativity in community at SCAD Family and Alumni Weekend in Savannah. Each spring, SCAD invites alumni and the families of current students to delight in springtime activities designed exclusively for them.

At the heart of this cherished weekend is the 44th annual SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival, the university’s first and longest-standing signature event. Stroll through scenic Forsyth Park as students and alumni transform the sidewalks into a gallery en plein air.

Friday, April 25

Noon to 3 p.m.
Early check-in for families
                                
In town early? Check in ahead of the rush to pick up your schedule. You’ll also receive your event button, which provides access to many of the weekend’s events.

1–5 p.m.
Tour Savannah Film Studios backlot

Join faculty from the School of Film and Acting on a fascinating tour of the Savannah Film Studios backlot. Tours last approximately 30 minutes. Tour groups are limited in size; advance tour registration is required. Transportation is not provided to Savannah Film Studios, but parking is available onsite.

1–5 p.m.
Open House at SCAD Back40

Take a trip to the university’s sustainable urban farm and apiary to learn about the many ways it contributes to the Lowcountry community. Transportation is not provided to SCAD Back40, but parking is available onsite.

2–5 p.m.
Visit the SCAD Museum of Art

Stop by SCAD MOA to experience the premier exhibitions on display. Admission for registered families is free throughout the weekend.

2–5 p.m.
Tour SCADstory
                                                  
Take a tour of SCADstory, an immersive experience through more than 45 years of SCAD history. Tour groups are limited in size; advance registration is required for a tour.

4–6 p.m.
Foundation studies honors show and awards reception

View this juried exhibition featuring student work from foundation studies classes. Entries showcase sketches, drawings, sculptures, and more. Transportation is not provided to Wallin Hall, but parking is available onsite.

5–7 p.m.
Event check-in for families

7–10 p.m.                   
Screening of 'Wicked' and alumni remarks | Trustees Theater                    
Join us for a screening of Wicked, preceded by remarks and behind-the-scenes insights from a SCAD alum who contributed to the film. All students, alumni, and their registered family members are invited to attend.

Saturday, April 26

11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sidewalk Arts Festival | Forsyth Park
                      
Stroll through the open-air chalk art gallery and enjoy festival activities, including food, music, and student performances. Be sure to stop by the Family Tent between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to take a break from the sun. Winners of the competition will be announced at 4:30 p.m.

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Go behind the scenes to see the latest and greatest facilities including the new backlot at the Savannah Film Studios. Advance registration required.

Alumni welcome reception
5–7 p.m.
Poetter Hall, 342 Bull St.
Kick off the weekend in style at this welcome reception just for SCAD alumni. Catch up on the latest at SCAD and how you can get plugged in. Get a sneak peek of Après SCAD, a creative retreat designed exclusively for alumni. Enjoy light bites and drinks as you reconnect with friends old and new. Adults only. RSVP required.

Saturday, April 26

SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Forsyth Park
Create your own chalk art masterpiece, then stroll the walkways to see what students are creating! You can take part in alumni activities throughout the day at the SCAD alumni tent. Check-in opens at 10 a.m. for chalk and your alumni gift.

Register in advance to participate in the SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival. Winners will be announced at 4:30 p.m.

Discover contemporary art by emerging and established international artists, including commissioned works and site-specific installations. The SCAD alumni gallery is dedicated to presenting work exclusively by alumni artists. Admission for alumni and their families is free throughout the weekend.
