Rossana Kelton thesis exhibition: 'Color Gamesmanship'

In her thesis exhibition Color Gamesmanship, Rossana Kelton (M.F.A. painting) plays with visual perception, producing optical illusions and puzzles through the manipulation of colorful geometric shapes. Informed by the tenets of Op Art, Kelton creates abstract works that present dynamic relationships between saturation, hue, value, transparency, and opacity. The perceptual shifts in Kelton’s works are generated from her investigation of the fourth dimension of color and her ability to unite the science of art with the art of science. Incorporating scientific discoveries and technological experiments into her works, Kelton achieves color gamesmanship, confronting the observer with perceptual phenomena such as afterimages and an incredible array of effects and aftereffects.
