Form the future of sustainable design with Women in Architecture at SCAD alumni presentation
Learn to lead by example with women in building arts. In conversation with SCAD AIAS chapter president Pankti Thakkar (B.F.A. architecture), three SCAD alums spearheading the charge toward a more sustainable design future offer insights and advice on building a career in architecture and advocating for more eco-conscious practices.
Alexandra Chaves, Assoc. AIA, (M.Arch, architecture, 2006; B.F.A., architecture, 2005) is a design project manager at Restructure Studio, a women-founded, women-owned architectural firm dedicated to merging sustainable practice with excellent design. Chaves chairs the Profiles Video Series for AIA Austin Women in Architecture.
Carmen R. Evans, AIA, LEED AP BD+C O+M, NCARB, (M.Arch., architecture, 2006; B.F.A., architecture, 2005) is the design studio manager at Epsten Group, specializing in adaptive reuse projects and sustainable design. Evans also served as the 2020 AIA Savannah president.
Brandie Kochan Townsend (M.Arch., architecture, 2005) is a senior consultant at Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc., where she focuses on zero-waste-to-landfill efforts. For more than a decade, Townsend has championed a more conscious conservationist state of mind.
