Embark on a new era with Executive Producer Leslye Headland on SCADFILM Storytellers
Leslye Headland, executive producer for Star Wars: The Acolyte (Disney+), Russian Doll (Netflix), and Single Drunk Female (Freeform), joins SCAD associate chair of film and television Quinn Orear for an in-depth conversation on how Headland is blazing new trails as a woman and LGBTQIA+ executive producer.
From plays to blockbuster films, Headland delves into the experiences she’s had that have prepared her for the Star Wars franchise, including how she balances three generations of devoted fan expectations.
Headland is an acclaimed producer, director, and Emmy-nominated writer, whose varied experience covers stage, television, and the big screen. She served as the writer, director, and showrunner for Netflix’s breakout hit Russian Doll, nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards and nine Creative Arts Emmy Awards (winning three). In addition to Star Wars: The Acolyte, Headland is also directing and executive producing Freeform’s Single Drunk Female and has signed a multiyear overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios to create and direct new series for network, cable, and streaming services. Other film credits include her 2012 writing debut with Bachelorette, starring Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, and Rebel Wilson; the 2014 remake of About Last Night with Kevin Hart; and writing and directing Sleeping With Other People, which starred Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie and premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
This event is free and open to the public.
