Embark on a voyage through history and fable at virtual SCAD Alumni Atelier salon

From immersive experiences to transcorporeality, alumni Delfin Gomez (M.F.A., themed entertainment design, 2015) and Adrian Perez (M.A., design for sustainability, 2010; B.F.A., architecture, 2008) showcase their latest collections at the virtual Spring 2021 Alumni Atelier salon.

Delfin Gomez is a designer, art director, and storyteller from Venezuela who creates fantastical visual and immersive experiences in the themed entertainment field. In his Alumni Atelier collection, Gomez delves into the symbolism of the flagship SCAD building, Poetter Hall, and creates an interactive experience melding live performance with history. As a preface to SCAD for potential students, a nexus for current Bees, and an altar of remembrance for alumni, the project uses the heritage of SCAD to demonstrate who we are and what we can become.

Adrian Perez is a Honduran-born designer based in Beirut, Lebanon. For his Alumni Atelier work, Perez fashions large-scale tapestries that evoke themes of transcorporeality and biocentrism using the wool of Awassi sheep, which have been bred for more than 5,000 years in the Levantine region. Through dyeing, spinning, hand embroidery, and felting, Perez transforms the wool into material artifacts laden with emotion and mythologies that draw on the Awassi sheep’s appearance in pastoral imagery, biblical fables, and the ritualistic practices of Abrahamic religions.

This event, hosted by the office for career and alumni success, is free and open to the SCAD community and the public.
