Explore culture through costumes in Ruth E. Carter's 'Afrofuturism' exhibition

Join SCAD professors Imani Michelle Scott, Ph.D., and Walter Bennett as they discuss films featured in the exhibition Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design, on view at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film through Sept. 12, 2021. Sharing insights from their respective disciplines, they will examine the way Carter's costumes contribute to the narratives of the films and how they convey Black identity and culture.

Scott is a scholar of communication, conflict analysis, and peacebuilding. She has authored and co-edited various books related to her academic specialties, and has also been a contributor to the Huffington Post. In addition to her work as a SCAD professor, Scott serves as the faculty adviser to the SCAD Atlanta Black Student Association.
