Submit your best work for 2021 SCAD Foundation Studies Portfolio Award virtual exhibition
Calling all SCAD undergrads: Compete for a chance to showcase your best work and win gift cards or a scholarship. SCAD recognizes students who are committed to excellence in their foundation studies classes in this annual exhibition featuring a variety of color theory, design, and drawing works.
Information session: Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, 4–5 p.m. (A link to the Zoom meeting is available on myevents.scad.edu.)
Deadline for submissions: Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021
Virtual exhibition: Feb. 13–19
Eligibility
The Foundation Studies Portfolio Award is free and open to any undergraduate student who has not accumulated more than 71 credit hours and has completed or is currently enrolled in at least one foundation studies class at SCAD.
Awards
Ten finalists will receive a $100 Ex Libris voucher. One finalist will be selected as overall winner and receive a tuition scholarship for one class for a subsequent quarter at SCAD.*
*Awards not claimed after 10 business days will be forfeited.
Submission requirements
To enter, attach the following requirements in a single email to [email protected].
The subject line should read: “Your_Name 2021 FSPA.” Include the following in the body of your email submission:
- Your name
- SCAD email address
- Your phone number
- Your major or intended major
- Your home address (not your SCAD address)
In a single PDF file, include the following items (do not submit through a third party such as OneDrive or Office 365):
- Five original pieces of artwork completed for foundation studies classes while attending SCAD. Images should be saved at 72 ppi. Each image slide should be numbered. For instructions on photographing, sizing, and loading your photos in a PDF file, visit the foundation studies blog.
- Your unofficial transcript. To access your transcript, go to MySCAD > My Info > Student Services and Financial Aid > Student Records > Academic Transcripts > Undergraduate and Unofficial Transcript. Take a screen shot of all documents. Be sure to use the Safari browser since Firefox and others do not show the entire document.
- A separate inventory list with the following information for each piece:
1. Name of student
2. Contact information
3. Title of work
4. Medium(s) used
5. Physical dimensions
6. Class in which it was produced (including the professor’s name)
