Join this Guests and Gusto for a special presentation from SCAD professor of art history Margaret Wilkerson on Kiki Smith’s Volatile Bodies: Rethinking Corporeality in Contemporary Art, as part of the SCAD Liberal Arts Lecture Series. During the 1990s, Smith gained worldwide recognition for her visceral works depicting female bodies. In this presentation, Wilkerson discusses how Smith’s sculptures challenge traditional models of femininity and affirm embodied forms of representation and perception.
