Multidisciplinary designer and former SCAD professor Rodrigo Buelvas (M.A., interior design, 2010) returns to his alma mater to share his unique, forward-thinking approach and experimental practice.

About Rodrigo Buelvas
Rodrigo Buelvas is a multidisciplinary designer, creative thinker, and educator. His global exposure during his time at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill has enabled him to work on many of the firm’s most innovative projects, including AMIE 1.0, the first 3D-printed micro-living unit in the world. Buelvas also notably created a functional, technology-integrated conference table, which won Interior Design’s Best Product of the Year for its innovative design. His nearly 15 years of academic and industry experience includes workplace environments, commercial, residential, and lifestyle projects. At the top design and architecture firm Gensler, he is a leading designer for a niche studio focusing on lifestyle projects, while continuing to experiment with principles and methodologies within his own practice. Buelvas is passionate about improving the learning experience and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance educational programs to improve our living environments. He often collaborates with industry professionals on interdisciplinary studies. Currently based in Miami, Buelvas researches, experiments, and works in myriad project types and consults across the U.S., Latin America, and the Asia Pacific.
