Go behind the image with trailblazing artist and deFINE ART honoree Marilyn Minter
Join SCAD deFINE ART 2020 honoree Marilyn Minter as she shares her unconventional process and speaks to her experience of navigating the art world as a radical woman artist.
Minter is a prolific figure who eschewed the boundaries of art, commerce, and desire across five decades. Throughout her career, Minter has fused aesthetic rigor with instinct and impulse, creating bold, experimental artwork. As a vocal activist, she champions education and intergenerational discourse. Minter’s work has been exhibited at historic galleries and institutions, including White Columns, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. She was recently honored with a landmark traveling retrospective, Pretty/Dirty, organized by the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, Texas.
This event is free and open to the public and is presented as part of SCAD deFINE ART 2020, the university’s program of exhibitions, lectures, and performances held Feb. 18–20 at university locations in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia.
