Rhett Scott thesis exhibition: 'Making It Up As I Go'
In his thesis exhibition Making It Up As I Go, Rhett Scott (M.F.A. painting; B.F.A., painting, 2013) investigates the indistinguishable line between reality and simulation in the digital age. Using various painting applications to mimic technological processes, Scott transforms the flat surface into a 3D landscape of marks and objects, creating illusory environments that confound the viewer’s experience. Compelled by nostalgic recollections of his past, Scott draws inspiration from video games and computer graphics of the 1980s and '90s.
