Travel north to 'Fargo' with SCAD Cinema Circle Based on True Events Series
In Minnesota, 1987, car salesman Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) is deep in debt and so desperate for money he hires two dim-witted thugs to kidnap his wife. Jerry plans to collect the ransom from her wealthy father, pay his co-conspirators a small portion, and keep the rest to satisfy his debts. The scheme collapses when the thugs shoot a state trooper and two witnesses.
Allegedly based on a true story (directors Joel and Ethan Coen have vacillated), Fargo also stars Frances McDormand and Steve Buscemi. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards, with McDormand winning for Best Actress in a Leading Role and the Coen brothers taking the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Admission is free for SCAD Card holders, $3 for seniors, and $5 for the general public.
