Get inspired by esteemed deFINE ART honoree Lawrence Weiner during talk
32 Abercorn St.
SCAD presents a conversation with the deFINE ART 2019 honoree, the legendary Lawrence Weiner. A major figure in the international art world and a trailblazing conceptual artist, Weiner — born in 1942 in South Bronx, New York — is a proponent of the use of language as art. His text-based and public artworks have manifested in various forms and places since the early 1970s and are known for their responsiveness to site while also shifting their given contexts.
Significant public installations by Weiner in the past two years include the Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, Austria; Museum of Modern Art, New York, New York; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands; National Museum Vestbanen, Oslo, Norway; DIA: Beacon, Beacon, New York and Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico City, among numerous others.
This event is free and open to the public and is part of SCAD deFINE ART 2019, held Feb. 26–28 at university locations in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia.
