Skirt reality in artist gallery talk for 'News from Nowhere'

Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019

Gutstein Gallery

Savannah, GA

201 E. Broughton St.

Join curators and artists for an engaging gallery talk about "News from Nowhere," the group exhibition of fictitious, simulated or imaginary places. Susan Hopp, SCAD associate chair of foundation studies, Katie Parker, one half of the artist duo known as Future Retrieval and Jordan Tate join moderator Ben Tollefson, who is assistant curator at SCAD Exhibitions. The artists discuss their practice, process and concepts as they relate to the exhibition.

"News from Nowhere" is composed of works of photography, painting, installation, sculpture and game design. The exhibition presents both utopic and dystopic visions through imagined spaces and considers our relation to falseness. In an environment in which the line between truth and fiction is obscured daily, these artists create escapist spaces or surreal interpretations of the real world.

This event is free and open to the public and part of SCAD deFINE ART 2019, held Feb. 26–28 at university locations in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia.
