Prestigious Davis Projects for Peace awards go to two SCAD students

SCAD is proud to announce that two students have been awarded a total of $10,000 by The Davis Projects for Peace. Architecture student Sergi Sauras and furniture design student Valentina Cabanzo will travel to Cambodia this summer to execute a Project for Peace of their design.

Sauras and Cabanzo competed against entries from more than 90 universities. Their project, “Playing for a Goal in Siem Reap,” will provide the necessary tools to create a sustainable sports program for underprivileged children in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Projects for Peace is an initiative inviting all students at Davis United World College Scholars Program partner schools to design grassroots projects that promote peace. Projects can be located anywhere in the world and those judged to be the most promising and feasible receive $10,000 in funding. The objective is to promote and encourage young people to create and execute their own ideas for building peace.
