SCAD team wins Emerging Product Designer of the Year at European Product Design Awards

Industrial design students Anja Lukovic, Marino Funakoshi, Natalie Schade, Diana Thomson and Nick Wargo earned the highest student honor at the 2018 European Product Design Awards for their autonomous food truck concept "Ugli."

The food truck collects fruits and vegetables that are misshapen or have cosmetic blemishes, transporting them to locations to be made into nutritious juice. Once the juicing is completed, the solar-powered food truck travels to "food deserts" where fresh produce isn't available, offering residents a healthy alternative to the limited dining choices in their area.

The European Product Design Awards honor the best in product design globally, with the goal of advancing the appreciation of design worldwide. Each submitted design is evaluated by the esteemed EPDA Jury on its own merit based on form, function and innovation.
