Jessica Rankin exhibition in Savannah: "Passages"
"Passages" features a selection of embroidery paintings and large-scale drawings on paper by artist Jessica Rankin. For Rankin's first solo show in the Southeast, this exhibition presents conceptually driven "mental maps" that include imagery of charts and diagrams, pathways and landscapes, poetic text and coded language, that form organic compositions that are influenced by her personal experience and daily life.
These sheer, diaphanous panels reverberate off the wall and represent the temporality of existence, memory and intuition as well as what the artist refers to as the "embodiment of thought."
Panel discussion: Friday, Sept. 20, 5 p.m.
Reception: Friday, Sept. 20, 6:30-7:30 p.m., as part of the SCAD Savannah gallery hop
The exhibition, panel discussion and reception are free and open to the public.
