In design for sustainability, professionals integrate the “four Es” of sustainability (ecology, economy, equality and education) in the development process, thus strengthening the interconnectedness between business and environment, human beings and nature.
Design for sustainability is an interdisciplinary program that embraces sustainability as an integrative framework. By synthesizing the strengths of various design disciplines, it holistically addresses large-scale challenges to the human condition.
At the core of the program lies the integration of social and ethical aspects, while developing economically stable conditions, implementing ecological stewardship and working in an interdisciplinary professional environment.
Students learn to discern organizational patterns within complex systems. Students formulate and plan comprehensive strategies, applying sustainable methodologies into the development of environments, buildings, products and services.
