Cathy Horyn
Known for her keen eye and sharp prose, Cathy Horyn is one of fashion’s most authoritative journalists. A native of Coshocton, Ohio and the daughter of a newspaperman, Horyn graduated from Barnard College in 1978 with an English degree and later received her master’s in journalism from Northwestern University. She initially covered public schools and then became a features writer, chronicling fashion for The Detroit News and The Washington Post. Between 1994 and 1998, Vanity Fair contracted Horyn to cover fashion. In 1998, she joined The New York Times as chief fashion critic, simultaneously writing articles for The New York Times Magazine. In 2015, Horyn joined New York Magazine as a critic-at-large. Now at The Cut, she continues to shape fashion discourse with unmatched influence.
