Lauren Clay

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Lauren Clay (B.F.A. painting) now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She has had solo exhibitions at the SCAD Pinnacle Gallery in Savannah, Georgia, in 2015; the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, in 2015; the Larissa Goldston Gallery in New York City in 2009; the Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2008; and the Tilt Gallery and Project Space in Portland, Oregon, in 2008.

Clay has received numerous residencies and awards, namely the SCAD Visiting Artist & Alumni Award in 2010; artist residencies at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, Colorado, in 2013 and 2014 and Abrons Arts Center in New York City in 2008 and 2009; and a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship from 2006 to 2007.

Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Blouin Artinfo and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among other publications. Clay holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from SCAD and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. This is her second solo exhibition at SCAD.
