Alexander Schwartz

A second-year M.F.A. student from Chico, Calif., Schwartz earned a B.F.A. in dance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts before transitioning fully into filmmaking, where he specializes in directing. Schwartz performed professionally with six dance companies in New York City and one in Washington, D.C. He also trained and performed improv with Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB). As an actor, he has appeared in independent feature films including Cora Bora and Before You Know It. Drawing on his diverse background in performance, movement, and storytelling, Schwartz approaches directing with a strong emphasis on character motivation and saturative world-building.
