Carli Whitwell

An award-winning journalist with 16 years of experience, Carli Whitwell launched her career in newspaper, later transitioning to magazine work with staff roles at Hello! Canada and ELLE Canada. In July 2019, she joined Refinery29 Canada as deputy editor and later ran the R29 Canada team. Since 2022, Whitwell has been the senior director of editorial for Refinery29 globally, leading the editorial team to deliver innovative and renowned content including the UV safety platform Sun Blocked, the femme-focused column My Period, the R29 x SCAD Next In Beauty event, and more. She is a global brand representative, appearing at events, in panels and on national television. She most recently appeared on Good Morning America. With a background spanning news, beauty, fashion, culture, and lifestyle, Whitwell lends her varied expertise to the empowerment of women and non-binary people. She has interviewed some of the biggest names in fashion and beauty, including Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, Donni Davy, Adwoa Aboah, Elle Fanning, Zoë Kravitz, Mandy Moore, Lana Condor, among others.
