Christopher John Rogers
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, La., Christopher John Rogers was encouraged to pursue the arts from a young age. Equally fascinated by anime and the works of Gauguin, he would create costumes for comic book characters using discarded fabric or garbage bags — anything to bring his vision to life. This innate sense of experimentation epitomizes his design process and brand ethos. Rogers launched the CJR brand with his SCAD senior thesis collection and a close cohort of friends from the Class of 2016. Following graduation, the global obsession with his signature patterns and impeccably constructed silhouettes has yet to slow. Rogers has collaborated with luxury design brands and prominent philanthropic organization, championing positive change for those underrepresented in the industry. The brand has featured endlessly in Vogue, Elle, and WWD, as well as countless others, and has been worn by prominent celebrities and public figures including Michelle Obama, Rihanna, Tracee Ellis Ross, Anne Hathaway, Gabrielle Union, Tessa Thompson, and Lizzo.
